Heading down to Ludlow yesterday to do some planning for my Ludlow Brewery Beer Tasting, I just happened upon their thirteenth annual Valentine’s Ale Massacre. Well, it would be rude not to stop in and check it out whilst I was in the area.
It is a lovely little beer festival – and not too late for you to enjoy it, since it’s on all day today and tomorrow too. Alongside a brilliant selection of 20 ales and ciders from across the UK you can enjoy the Ludlow Brewery range. Keep yourself well fed with some tasty local scotch eggs and also with great food from local favourites. The Ludlow Pizza Girls are there today and Beefy Boys will be representing tomorrow.
I really enjoyed the Arbor Ales Mosaic GF, a really well executed pale ale showcasing a single hop, mosaic. It’s fragrant, floral and fruity all at the same time. I also have to recommend Ludlow’s own Silent Knight – a vanilla espresso milk stout that was one of my beers of the year last year. And finally, don’t miss out on at least a little slurp of Red Dawn – my favourite of Ludlow Brewery’s core range.
As if all that wasn’t enough, in the comfortable and open tap room, they will also have live entertainment in the evenings over the weekend. Admission to the festival is free, but the comedy and live music at the end of each day are ticketed so head to the brewery website to get those booked up – if there are any left!
