Tasty treats for us at The Pheasant Admaston. We were looking for a comfortable pub with a hearty meal. The Pheasant did not disappoint. It’s not quite cold enough for the open fire to be lit yet, but it was still a warm welcome in the pub.

The pub is dog friendly, child friendly. Just generally friendly if I’m honest, we got into a few nice chats with locals. The menu is epic. Locally sourced ingredients and a great price. We plumped for the local topside roast, which was served medium. Absolutely melt-in-the-mouth. And a cracking homemade Yorkshire Pudding to boot. Super crisp roast potatoes with fluffy interior. And all the gravy you could want, rich and thick.
It certainly hit the spot with us, as did a pint or two of Wye Valley’s HPA. My first pint was cloud AF – I think I got the bottom of the barrel because the next was crystal clear, so do keep an eye when ordering. But other than that, this is an absolute gem of a pub. I’m looking forward to warmer weather already so we can go and enjoy the garden, but on a sunny winter’s afternoon this was as cosy and convivial a surrounding as you could possibly ask for. Definite GOAT material.

We visited The Pheasant without announcing our presence and paid for our meals in full.
