There are loads of activities taking place this week as Telford gets walking. The Telford Big Walk Week will culminate on Sunday with walks across the town converging. All the details are available online. Most activities are free, so there’s no excuse not to get involved.
We got stuck in with the Telford Big Walk Week yesterday in Oakengates. We met for a short kid-friendly ramble into the Cockshutt’s Nature Reserve. There we were met by the lovely team from the Wrekin Forest School.

Most of the kids taking part were around the 7-year-old mark, but my newly-3-year-old was welcomed, and cheered as she completed the ramble! There were loads of activities on offer. She got stuck in with making a dream catcher and building a den, amongst other things. She also enjoyed picking some leaves and flowers to print her own design. A very good activity for a toddler that, bashing flowers into fabric!
The highlight was obviously her first go at toasting (and eating) her own marshmallow over a brazier that had been set up. Nothing like fire and a pointy stick to set your parent radar to high, but she handled it all beautifully.

The only negative side was that there was space for loads more families to have joined us. I thought it was a wonderfully organised event and so much fun. Don’t miss out on the rest of the free activities you can enjoy over half term week!
