Kinch’s Coffee Bar

We are encouraged to stop for lunch at Kinch’s Coffee Bar on a semi-regular basis by my daughter. She is the World’s Biggest Fan of the babyccino. A simple affair of warm frothy milk in a tiny coffee cup, this earns the adoration of toddlers everywhere not just by virtue of being hot milk. The addition of squirty cream and marshmallows goes a long way to fuel the obsession.

Even if you know Wellington, Kinch’s Coffee may have passed you by. It is hidden away at the back of Anthony’s of Wellington, the top-notch butcher and farmer’s shop that is well worth a visit on its own. Good home-cooked fare is available here to those in the know. The Wrekin Giant breakfast is a must (the sausages are fantastic), but on this visit, I sampled the three-egg omelette. While the absence of any carbs and the slightly reserved portion of salad was a bit of a disappointment, the omelette itself was deliciously fluffy. An excellent lunch option with a spoonful of homemade coleslaw on the side.

But the babyccino is really where it’s at, as I understand. I had to settle for a delicious IPA from Midlanders Green Duck Brewery. A superb combination of fruity hops and well-timed bitterness, this was just one of the many local beers available to enjoy with your meal – choose from anything in the farm shop selection when you dine.
